Talk" program, Xiang Haoyu, a research fellow in the Department for Asia-Pacific Studies at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), stated that Takaichi’s erroneous remarks are not accidental.

They have deep-seated political motives and strategic considerations, and are an inevitable outcome of the long-term evolution of Japan’s political shift to the right.

Xiang further emphasized that since taking office, Takaichi has adopted a series of moves in the field of military buildup and expansion, which have disrupted the regional security architecture and seriously undermined regional peace and stability.
